#35 Baby waking out of hunger at night? Or is something else going on...

Most parents survive the newborn phase okay, with all its sleeplessness and on-demand feedings. (Don't get me wrong, it's still ROUGH but we expect that with a newborn!) However after 4+ months of interrupted sleep it can really start to wear on you! This is the time that I hear from a lot of parents because they don't feel like they can continue functioning at their current level of sleep deprivation much longer. One of the most common questions that comes my way is: *How do I know if my baby still needs a feeding overnight?* In today's episode, we will look at whether your baby still needs a night feed, and if they don't- how to remove those night feeds!

When I was a first time mom, I had never heard of the 4 month sleep regression and so when my baby's sleep went from bad to worse at 4 months- I was shocked! A common concern I hear is: "How do I teach my baby to fall asleep without my help?" The answer, "Sleep coaching!" Now, there is WAY more to sleep coaching than just the sleep coaching method that you use but I thought it would be helpful to share my run down of the different options. I would be rich if I had a dollar for every time I heard this statement, “We’ve tried everything but nothing works. Our baby/toddler/child just won’t sleep!” Not only do I hear this a lot, I go on to work with many of these families and we are able to successfully get their child sleeping better! So I thought I would share what might be happening if you find yourself uttering the statement above. In this episode I talk about why you may be feeling this way and what you might be missing.

Do people have opinions about sleep training being damaging? Yup. Will you find blogs and articles of people expressing that opinion if you google it? Yup. Is there solid research to back up this claim? Nope.🤷 In this new episode I'll be sharing what the research actually reveals about sleep training and its effects.
